Inhabited since the 12th century, Ipolydamásd has two medieval castles: the castles of Zuvár and Damásd, the latter easily accessible and offering a pleasant resting place. The small village is constantly developing: in 2021, the cycle path between Szob and Ipolydamásd was opened, allowing visitors to explore a section of the lesser-known Ipoly Valley on two wheels. And in 2023, the Ipoly bridge connecting the two settlements to Helemba in Slovakia will be rebuilt, after the bridge was completely destroyed by a flood wave in 2000. The banks of the Ipoly are beautiful, ideal for hiking, fishing or even water sports, as the wooded river is a great waterway for canoeists and kayakers alike. For hikers with boots on, there are also great trails; the optional routes of the Börzsönyi Blue Tour, the Blue Castle and the Blue Cross signposted trails pass through both castles and complete the discovery of the settlement.
