Fairs have been held in Štúrovo since 1546. In 1724, the settlement received an “official” privilege of holding fairs from King Charles III, which allowed the holding of four national fairs a year in Štúrovo. Over the centuries, only the famous St. Simon and Judah’s Fair has survived to the present day.
