In 1781, the first settlements of the Dornish coal basin were found on the border of Cholnok. During more than 200 years of cultivation, the Cholnok area became one of the most important. In the early 2000s, the last mine in Dorf, Lencsehegy, closed down. In 2001, a few volunteers founded the Csolnok Mining Club, Mining and Mineral Collection. The collection is particularly significant as it is an almost unique display of relics, tools and documents from over 200 years of mining in the basin. Visits by appointment only!
