The Som Hill (János Hill, or Great-Hill) is located in the Danube lowland, in the hills along the Danube, in the cadastral district of Nová Vieska and Gbelce, on an area of about 4 hectares, which was declared a nature reserve in 1964. The protected area itself consists of the grassy hilltop and the southern slopes, which lie between the vineyards and orchards of the northern area and the southern hillsides. The area is very dry and warm, with little rainfall, so that representatives of warm-loving grasses are abundant. Several species of the protected marsh marten are found here.
