Situated on the banks of the Danube, the village has played an important role in several historical periods. In Roman times it was a camp site, in 1606 the Peace of Zhitvatork was signed here with the Ottomans, and in World War II the Soviet river fleet landed in the area. Monuments to all these events can be seen in the village. A popular holiday area is the Danube bank, where holiday houses are built on panoramic plots. The Eurovelo6 international cycling route runs through the village, not on the usual Danube embankment, so you can see some of the remaining thatched-roofed features of the folk architecture while cycling. From the square next to the Reformed Church, it is possible to reach the banks of the Danube and enjoy the panoramic view of the river and the opposite bank. In the village you will find the wine terrace and guest house of the excellent winemaker Frigyes Bott with a view of the Danube. There is also a pepper processing plant in the village, with a sample shop on the main road.
