Tát - Ister-Granum

Tát

Tát

It is situated in a beautiful natural setting, next to the Little Danube, embraced by the branches of the ancient river to the north and surrounded by the hills of Gerecse to the south. Once ridden by Roman generals and medieval kings, it is now home to Hungarians and ethnic German families proud of their traditions. The dedicated inhabitants of the town are constantly researching and preserving the life of their ancestors: the Village Museum and Local History Collection, the German National Women’s Choir and the German National Wind Band serve this purpose. The natural environment is also special: the 5 km long, reserve-like Táti Island, which can be accessed by a narrow causeway, is a pleasant place to walk, while the wildlife is fantastically rich. The village is close to a number of popular hiking destinations: the Nagy-Gete, the Mogyorós rocks and the Sátorkõpusztai cave are all within easy reach.
