The highest point of the picturesque settlement, built on hills and divided by valleys, is the Nagy-Gete, along the ridge of which the National Blue Trail passes. You can reach Mókus Hill, with its beautiful views, along the Calvary steps, where you can rest on the roof and admire not only the panorama – Pilis in the east and the Buda Hills in the south – but also the parrots that so often fly overhead. On the way down, it’s worth taking a detour to look down on the charming cellar from above. The Fishpond is a kilometre and a half from the cellars, in a quiet little valley surrounded by benches, reeds and a walk around the lake. The Miners’ Memorial House commemorates the once important coal mining industry, and the village church is named after St Borbala, the patron saint of miners. Half of the village’s inhabitants still claim to be of German nationality: the German Nationality Farmhouse is a lively example of everyday life in the 19th century.
