Starting from the popular starting point of the Pilis hiking trails, Klastrompuszta, you can easily find it by following the red and blue cave signs. The blue sign will take you to the entrance of the Legény cave, with an information sign below the steep climb. Its counterpart, the Girl’s Cave, is about 50 metres to the north, and can be reached from the information sign at the bottom of the steep slope by following the red-marked path with a stone curve. Of the two entrances, the larger and more spectacular is the former Legionnaire’s Cave, with its triangular, spacious hall containing many dissolved form artifacts, beautiful dissolved spherules on the ceiling and fossil stalactite outcrops. The entrance to the Girl’s Cave is much smaller than its counterpart, but it’s all the more exciting to look around! The passages, long known as the separate Leány and Legény caves, are now part of the Ariadne cave system, Hungary’s third longest and fourth deepest cave. The connection between the two caves was found in 1997, and in the following years five more caves were connected nearby: the Aridane, the Hidden Way, the Vacska, the Indication and the Stone Column caves. Exploration of the system, which in total exceeds 15 kilometres in length, is still actively underway, so it is possible that the discovery of new passages could increase the known length of the system in the future.
