The Žitavská toň / Zsitvatő steam pumping station is located on the left bank of the Danube at river kilometer 1752,near the village of Pat, at the mouth of the river Žitava. Built at the high technical standards of its time, the water facility was built in 1897, and its task is to pump the water of the Žitava and the inland waters of the swamps into the Danube. Pumping was performed by two machine units identical in structure and performance. The working machines are double-inlet screw casing vortex pumps. The pumps were driven by horizontal compound two-cylinder piston steam engines.
The plant was working until 1975, when the authorities suspended further operation due to mechanical aging of the boiler drum material.
