Čata (Csata)

The Lower Garam region has been a favourite region of the Hungarians since the conquest of Hungary, because of its fertile lands, flora and fauna. It was first mentioned in a document at the end of the 14th century as the property of the Pauline monastery of Marijacsalád and the Benedictine abbey of Leker; its past has since then often marred the settlement. The history of the village and everyday life in the village is told in the country house, which is housed in an original farmhouse. The house is furnished with period furniture, embroideries, weavings and handicrafts from the village. The items on display are a very good reflection of the self-sufficient way of life in the village. For water lovers, this part of the Garam has a calmer flow, offering ideal conditions as the canoes glide almost by themselves. The rapids, stony islands and bends are interspersed with rapids all the way to the confluence of the Garam and the Danube.
