Leányvár is a settlement between Gerecse and Pilis, which was already inhabited in Roman times, then occupied by the Avars, who are remembered by the remains of the castle. If you visit the village, you should visit the Calvary Chapel, the highest point of the village, on the top of the hill, with a wonderful panoramic view of the countryside. The picnic area and the restored statues next to the memorial are beautiful in themselves, but the area is also excellent for hiking.
