The two former municipalities of Nyír and Ágó are located between large agricultural areas. Its well-ordered streets are mainly inhabited by people engaged in agriculture. This was the case centuries ago, when there were manorial estates here belonging to the famous Eszterházy family. This is symbolized by the wheat-loaf that appears on the village coat of arms. There are two churches in the village, while the people of Nyirie were mostly Catholic, the people of Aho were mostly Reformed. The Catholic church was built in the 18th century by rebuilding a Baroque chapel. A prominent community is the riding association, which is a lively club and often organises horse races. Fishing is a popular recreational activity in the area. Village fairs and other events take place regularly in the village centre. A memorial room has been set up to honour traditions, where you can see tools, objects and costumes from the village’s past by appointment.
