With just under 300 inhabitants, this picturesque hamlet nestles in the hills of the Burda Mountains. Surrounded on one side by forest and on the other by fields and meadows, it’s no wonder that visitors are greeted by the smell of linden and the sound of birdsong. Its true speciality is its peaceful environment and the richness of its flora and fauna, while the proximity of the Ipoly River is ideal for anglers. Its population has a long history of viticulture, as attested by records dating back to the 18th century. Today, both wild and cultivated vines can be found on the sunny, warm hillsides. The Roman Catholic church dedicated to St John the Baptist was built in the 18th century. The traditional costume of the women of Lelém is worn only on special occasions, but its colourfulness is a must for any visitor.
