The building of today’s ship station was built at the turn of the 20th century by the Hungarian (Royal) River and Maritime Navigation Company. Its address is still visible on the building. At that time there was a regular boat service between Vienna and Budapest. During the season, the evening café boat carried the fruit of Grossmaros to Vienna, which was sold in the morning at the ‘Naschmarkt’. In the summer season, many boats still stop here, although they are all excursion boats.
