For decades, the castle in the centre of Bajna has been in a state of disrepair, waiting to be reborn. The National Castle Programme and the National Castle Programme have already seen several beautifully restored castles, but the transformation of the Bajna building is extraordinary: the former castle of the Devil’s Knight had to be reconstructed almost from the ruins. After decades of neglect and an award-winning renovation, in 2021 the Bajna Castle will finally be reborn inside and out, with an exterior worthy of an outstanding work of Hungarian classicist architecture. On the ground floor of the castle, the building’s past is brought to life, and the history of its construction is presented alongside the period of its destruction. The exhibition on the first floor offers visitors the chance to get to know Móric Sándor and his daughter Paulina Metternich-Sándor from various angles.
