The Ipolymenti Cultural and Tourism Association was founded in January 2001 to work more effectively on the preservation of our ethnographic and folklore values, to create the financial conditions for this purpose, to cultivate traditions, to promote cross-border cooperation and to establish village tourism. We also aim to establish cultural tourism along the Lower Ipeľ River in cooperation with national and Hungarian organisations. They would like to make their village the cultural centre of the Lower Ippoly Mente under the leadership of their association. With the establishment of the Living Landscape House in 2003, their aim was to pass on the culture and traditions of their ancestors to the younger generation. In 2004, they announced a “100 years back in time” programme for schools for pupils. Every year, 34 classes are introduced to the housing culture and traditions of the Lower River valley at the beginning of the 20th century, and learnt about old crafts.
