Moča (Dunamocs)

Moča (Dunamocs)

The history and development of the settlement is intertwined with the Danube. The village was enriched by the work of boatmen, boatwrights and waterman. The Village Museum was created to showcase these old crafts and the traditions of the village. In Dunamocs stands one of the largest Reformed churches in Skovakia, with monuments and a cemetery in its well-kept park. The village has memorials to many of its famous inhabitants, the most notable of whom is perhaps the poet Mihály Csokonai’s muse Lilla. The bust stands in a small square surrounded by flowers, easily accessible from the Danube bank. The locals have a reputation as excellent gardeners and farmers in the region. Walking through the streets of the village, peering over the fences, you can see fantastically flourishing ornamental gardens and tidy kitchen gardens everywhere. Dunamocs is well worth a visit by bike, as the cycle path with its unrivalled panoramic views runs right along the banks of the Danube. Bike stops and benches encourage you to get off the saddle and enjoy the beauty of nature.
