Across the Chľaba Mountains

From Kamenica nad Hronom we can walk along the great panoramic views of the Kováčov cliffs (Rocks) along the Burda / Chľaba mountain range. When you get down to Chľaba village, cross the new bridge over the Ipoly and visit the ruins of Castle of Ipolydamásd. One-way tour, advised to combine with public transport

ROUTES and ROAD SIGNS TO FOLLOW

Red sign from Kamenica nad Hronom, then Blue triangle leads to the cliffs, from where the blue lane leads back to Chľaba village.

From here, follow the main street of the village to the new bridge over the Ipeľ river, cross it and take the cycle path on the left to the Damásdi Castle access road. From there you can walk back along the main road to the centre of Ipolydamásd.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Until the bridge over the Ipeľ River in Damásd, the tour is only accessible to Chľaba; Damásdi Castle can be approached from Szob.

Signposted roads are supplemented by signposts on the ground, and journey times are indicated

VARIATIONS OF THE TOUR

• Until the construction of the new bridge over the Ipoly River, the entire tour can be done by detour; to do this, you need to reach the railway bridge at Szob along the Ipeľ River (+5.2 km)
• From Rocks (Skaly), follow the red sign to Kováčov (bus stop) (2.5 km), then take the – unfortunately busy – main road back to Kamenica nad Hronom (+4 km)
• From Chľaba to Kamenica nad Hronom you have to walk 6.5 km on the main road, but you can also take the bus back.
