Visitors can enjoy the food of their great-grandparents, learn about the old crafts and master the different processes.  There are about 20 different crafts, such as basket weaving, rope weaving, spinning and weaving, carpet making, cornhusk weaving, embroidery, felting, batik, broom making, bread baking, gingerbread making, glass painting, etc.

III. BIOCENTRUM – Želiezovce

During our gastronomy tour we would like to introduce you to an extremely versatile BIO Farm and give you a taste of their range of products.

BIOCENTRUM was founded in 2006. The owners are Dr. Ing. Ladislav Palík and Klára Palíková. They are engaged in plant and animal breeding.

BIOCENTRUM products are certified organic products. They process a significant part of the organic fruit and vegetables they produce themselves.

In the livestock sector, the main activity is cattle breeding, with about 150 animals.

The majority of organic fruit and vegetables are processed, dried and dehydrated, which is one of the oldest, most natural and gentlest preservation processes

In addition, the fruit is used to make pálinka, currently available in around 30 different varieties.

Their latest products are jams. It all started with plum jam, but since then they have produced apple jam, pumpkin apple jam, beetroot apple jam and also a very successful wine plum jam. Their jams are made with lots of healthy, ripe fruit and a handful of love.

Winery. Their aim is to produce wines of excellent quality, with varietal character, bearing the character of the vineyard of Pesek, at affordable prices.

Hospitality: for those who love the quiet of the countryside, delicious food and high quality wines, the cosy cellar in an idyllic setting is a pleasant place to relax. It is the perfect place to organise various occasional events, family gatherings, wine tastings and wine dinners. In addition, we take great care in collecting and preserving local history.

V. Kamenín

There are few unique settlements in the Highlands where the local municipality has its own animal population. Kamenín is one of them.

Kamenín is known for its short skirts. Nowadays it is called Little Hortobágy, because the soil in its boundaries is the same as in the Hortobágy. And if it’s the Little Hortobágy, it’s the home of grey cattle and mangalica pigs.

The livestock population in the village has increased considerably. In the Salt Fields, grey cattle calves are poking their mothers as far as the eye can see, mangalica piglets run around the marsh, and the four-day-old foal of the country house is out in the yard for the first time.

Many rare plants grow on the saline soils of the Kamenín Soil Field. For example, it is the only site in Slovakia where the Hungarian salt flower can be found.

Special feature of Kamenín is the  Sikes of Kamenín nature reserve / lookout

The area is a habitat for special species of flora and fauna due to the particularly saline (high salt content) soil. The Kéméndi Sikes are not only a national but also a European unique by European standards.

VI. Attila Geönczeöl’s winery

We end our culinary adventure in a cosy winery in (Kamenica nad Hronom).

Attila Geönczeöl’s winery is located in Kamenica nad Hronom, in the South Slovakian Wine Region. The headquarters are located in a press house built in 1882, with 3 cellar branches. The winery is a family business. Its wines are produced from the grapes grown in its vineyards in Mužla and Salka.

The vines are managed in accordance with the rules of organic farming and the wines are made with artisan tools. Traditional methods are used, and the constant temperature cellars, dug deep into the hill, provide an excellent backdrop.

Attila Geönczeöl

In our traditional press house, built in 1883, we welcome wine lovers all year round, and offer homemade scones, local cheeses, salami, ham and other delicious snacks. In winter we can accommodate groups of up to 24 people, but in summer we can cater for more in the open air, with no minimum number of guests, but please book in advance.

From the cellar you can start the Kováčov hiking trail, which takes you to the beautiful nature reserve and from the Rákóczi lookout you can enjoy the stunning views of the three rivers (Danube, Hron, Ipeľ).

Recommended tasting packages:

Wines from Hron region- 5 typical local wines with scones

Cellar portfolio – 10 wines with a cold dish of local food

Our special wines – 7 to 8 special vintage wines with wine glasses

The price of the tasting can vary between 5-15 euros per person, depending on the wines and wine glasses and the number of people in the group.

The tastings are mainly held in Hungarian, Slovak and English.
